late last year, my friend alyssa asked me to shoot an intimate wedding with her in san juan capistrano, but to only shoot on 35mm film. i got really excited as this was my first time getting an opportunity to shoot a wedding entirely on film, so i immediately said yes! when i arrived, i found out that bobby (the groom) was also a photographer and a leica enthusiast like me so i got even more excited. so of course, this is when our bromance started.
everything about this day was incredible. alyssa said it best in this instagram post:
it's hard to put into words the love that was felt on this sweet winter day as these two shared their vows to each other, witnessed by the people who get to see them live it out. so much grace and beauty held in their words, their expressions, and their sweet hugs with their boys moments after i do.
wedding days like these, where the only things that matter is marrying your best friend and sharing that experience with your people - these are the days i want more of. where the couple is so in love no hiccup matters. where the stunning details only enhance the beauty of the day. where the ambiance of the venue sets the stage for the romance of the day. where their reception feels like an intimate dinner party not disrupted by the timeline but flows with conversation over candlelit meals. where by the end of the night, my couples and their people feel like dear friends i’ve known forever. where the feelings matter most.
angela + bobby, thank you two for everything and for allowing us to come and document the day as it unfolded. to alyssa, thank you for your friendship all these years and for allowing me to shoot alongside you at this precious wedding. much love to you all!
